Caterpillar Chow Updated:08/2022

Our nursery is geared toward habitat awareness and rehabilitation. We help EVERYONE who wants to create native habitat by supplying information and milkweed, along with resources for native plants and gardening knowledge. We hope to expand our facility to accommodate field trips, study groups scientists and enthusiasts in order to further habitat education. The milkweed plant is extremely important to the ecology of California and the decline of the monarch is a red flag that something is very wrong with the ecosystem.

We focus on rare, desirable and mostly native milkweeds, with an emphasis on the 6 types we find in our neighboring counties of Southern California, including San Diego, Imperial and Orange counties. We understand what happened and now we intend to blaze forward with solutions. Despite the flurry and overflow of speculation and ad-hoc science, as well as the wild and varied information shared across social media channels we've been able to observe and detail specifics as to the need for habitat in locations where milkweed has been eradicated, even from “historical” mention.

We hope to gather support as we expand our reach and knowledge base in order to bring more milkweed into the urban, agricultural and industrial zones its been missing from for so many years. As we observe it’s comeback in the protected areas we look around at the expanse of private land and realize our job is monumental. We need help if we are to succeed.

Our nursery is located in Lakeside Ca and is capable of custom ordering of specific milkweeds and is a provider of native milkweed as well as an outlet for local native plants.

Our permanent menu includes Asclepias fascicularis, eriocarpa, californica, subulata, albicans and erosa, with capability to provide other types of milkweeds including vining, giants and eastern varieties.

We are able to produce market ready seedlings in as little as a week and market ready plants as early as six to eight weeks- very beneficial for wholesale outlets or landscape contractors looking for large quantities.

We use special mesh nursery bags that are landfill friendly and virtually eliminate transplant shock associated with long taproot plants.

Our nursery hours are Friday, Saturday and Sunday 8am -4pm and Monday 10am to 2pm
