During his more than 32-year career, Steve Thompson worked extensively and collaboratively with private landowners and business interests on water, land and wildlife conservation efforts. He has substantial experience working on special legislative and regulatory issues related to water, endangered species and national wildlife refuges, and provided testimony or briefings for Congress, the White House, federal agencies, governors and state legislative hearings.
Thompson retired from an executive position with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in 2008 after working in Washington, D.C., California and several other states. He now is president of Steve Thompson LLC, a California-based company he founded in 2008. His company works with land developers, farmers, ranchers and business leaders, providing professional advice and strategic assistance to conserve western land, water and wildlife. He began his career with the Bureau of Land Management in Idaho and Oregon.
