San Luis Obispo Wildlife Area Updated:06/2019

The 448-acre San Luis Obispo Wildlife Area was designated as a wildlife area by the Fish and Game Commission in 1984. It was acquired for use as a public shooting area/range, and is closed to all other visitor uses.

The portion of the property not used for the public shooting and related facility development serves as both a buffer zone to adjacent lands and as open space for the protection and enhancement of resident wildlife populations. The area is grassland and is generally devoid of trees and brush, with the exception of riparian vegetation along a small stream which runs through the center of the property.

For more information, call the Marine Region Monterey office at (831) 649-2870.
